Harry Scheid
President & CEO
Since 2007, Harry has been leading the Horst Construction Group teams as President and CEO. Harry has worked in the construction industry for over 40 years, working in various capacities from carpenter to superintendent to operations management.
Harry’s favorite part of his job is leading a team of hard-working and dedicated professionals. He is known for his mathematical mind, astute observations, and depth of industry knowledge. His team appreciates his sense of humor, approachability, and leadership.
In his free time, Harry enjoys spending time with his family, especially being Paw Paw to his grandchildren, as well as activities in the great outdoors including hunting, golf, and fishing.
Ken Fetterolf
Vice President
Ken joined Horst Construction in 2008, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience from over 35 years in the construction industry. As Vice President, Ken leads operations from preconstruction through project completion. He serves as a guide to the estimating, project management, and field operations teams.
On any given day, you will find Ken poring over numbers and reports, coordinating and leading meetings, or reviewing contract documents. His favorite part of the job is collaborating with such a hard-working and dedicated team to serve our clients with maximum value.
In his free time, Ken enjoys spending time with his family, watching Penn State football, grilling, and cheering for his grandchildren from the sidelines.
Steven j. Smith
Chief Estimator
Steve joined the Horst Construction team in 2010, serving first as a Senior Estimator and quickly being named Chief Estimator within a few years. Steve obtained his degree in Building Construction Management from Pennsylvania College of Technology and has spent almost 30 years in the industry.
Steve is known for his quick wit and extensive estimating knowledge. His favorite part about the job is working with clients in value engineering, and developing a budget that meets their needs. Around the office, you will likely find Steve crunching numbers behind the big screen, leading the estimating team’s efforts, or helping create detailed and extensive plans for our industrial clients’ projects.
In his free time, Steve enjoys spending time with his family, outdoor activities like hunting, fishing, and golf, vacationing in Canada, and also watching Seattle Seahawks football.
Ryan Null
Business Relationships Manager
Ryan has been part of the Horst team since 2011, starting as the director of our 3R Team before moving into the role of Business Relationships Manager. With over 25 years of industry experience in both operational and leadership capacities, he has provided a knowledgeable foundation for guiding clients through the various stages of their project.
Ryan most enjoys helping clients connect the dots for their project journey and providing guidance along the way. Ryan is generally found spending face-to-face time with our valued clients and partners, walking the grounds of a project, or attending networking events.
In his free time, Ryan enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons, coaching baseball, watching Philadelphia sports, and seeing live music.
Brad Forrey
Business Relationships Manager
Brad joined Horst Construction in 2018, bringing over 10 years of experience in the construction industry. As Business Relationships Manager, he focuses on building and nurturing the client and partner relationships that are essential to the company’s success.
After earning his degree from Millersville University, Brad worked in the communications industry before transitioning to construction. This experience has enhanced his ability to connect with clients and approach his work with a strong relational focus.
While Brad jokingly says the best part of his job is all the lunches, he truly enjoys getting to know clients, understanding their projects, and guiding them from start to finish.
Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, fishing, and watching Philadelphia sports.
Rick Lown, RA, NCARB
Master Planning
Rick joined the team in 2012, bringing his more than 37 years of industry experience to Horst to create a Master Planning program. Rick received architectural degrees from Lehigh University and Drexel University, and is a licensed architect.
Rick’s passion is architecture and design, and his office is the most color-coordinated and organized one in the building. He is known for his passionate and detailed approach to the master planning process. On any given day, Rick may be creating sketches, leading clients through their planning journey, or on the road meeting with new clients in person. His specialty is religious master planning.
In his free time, Rick enjoys spending time with his family, going on missions trips, golfing, and cycling.
Jessica Ferrell
Marketing Manager
Jessica joined the team in 2011 as a Project Assistant, then spent a few years as the Executive Administrative Assistant before stepping into marketing. She is driven by a desire to understand others, which led her to pursue a degree in Psychology from Lebanon Valley College. This background has informed her relationship-minded approach to work and life.
On any given day, you can find Jessica leading marketing strategy efforts, creating content or proposal responses, or out flying a drone at a jobsite. It’s this variety that Jessica cites as her favorite part of her job.
In her free time, she loves spending time with her husband and two teenagers, traveling, reading mystery novels, and playing board games.
