Governor Shapiro launches PA Permit Fast Track Program
Governor Josh Shapiro has launched the PA Permit Fast Track Program to accelerate development, boost economy, and strengthen competitiveness. Pennsylvania becomes the first state to establish a project-focused permitting fast-track program designed for complex and high-impact economic and infrastructure projects. This initiative builds on Governor Shapiro’s ongoing efforts to reduce wait times and streamline the state’s permitting, licensing, and certification processes.
How the Fast Track Program works
The PA Permit Fast Track Program streamlines key economic development projects by coordinating agency efforts, organizing critical milestones, and increasing transparency through a public-facing online dashboard. This initiative leverages interagency collaboration and innovative processes to achieve the following goals:
- Improve Project Coordination: The Office of Transformation and Opportunity (OTO) oversees the program, ensuring seamless management of timelines, milestones, and inter-agency communication.
- Support Strategic Projects: Eligible projects include major economic development and infrastructure initiatives that align with the Governor’s Economic Development Strategy.
- Ensure Transparency and Accountability: Inspired by the federal FAST-41 program, the initiative includes a dashboard that tracks project progress, permitting timelines, sponsor feedback, and agency accountability to foster trust and efficiency.
The PA Permit Fast Track Program marks a major milestone in establishing Pennsylvania as a national leader in economic development and infrastructure innovation.
